what is sandwich panel
Value & Applications of Sandwich Panels
Sandwich panels are composite boards typically bonded from pre-painted steel or stainless-steel facings to a rock-wool core, offering exceptional structural strength, thermal insulation, and hygiene in one. Engineered for partition walls and ceilings in cleanrooms and dust‑free workshops, they ensure ISO‑class cleanliness, minimize energy loss, resist fire and corrosion, and enable rapid, low‑labor installation.

End‑to‑End Production Process Overview

Decoiling & Leveling: Unwind pre‑painted steel or stainless coils and run them through a leveling machine to ensure flatness.
Film Lamination: Apply protective or decorative film to both panel faces to prevent scratches and allow custom finishes.
Roll Forming: Pass the facings through synchronized rollers to create tongue‑and‑groove edges and sealing lips.
Cutting & Punching: CNC‑trim panels to length and punch mounting holes, cut‑outs, or vents per design.
Adhesive Application: Dispense structural or PU adhesive into the formed grooves to bond the core material.
Core Filling: Insert rock‑wool blankets or inject foam between facings to fill the panel cavity.
Facing Alignment: Use vacuum lifters or robotic arms to place and align the top facing over the core assembly.
Hot Pressing: Heat and press the sandwich assembly under controlled temperature and pressure to cure the adhesive.
Cooling & Curing: Cool the panels via rollers or air jets to solidify the bond and reach handling temperature.
Final Cutting & Inspection: Trim panels to final dimensions, then perform quality checks on thickness, adhesion, flatness, and fire rating before packaging.

FAQs
Why is the final step of the sandwich panel production line hot pressing instead of cold pressing?
Hot pressing accelerates adhesive cure by applying heat and pressure simultaneously. Whereas a cold press requires at least 7 hours at ambient temperature to achieve full polymer cross-linking, hot pressing completes cure in approximately 10 minutes, dramatically reducing cycle time and increasing throughput.
What is the function of the sandwich panel frame and how is it manufactured?
We employ a Panel Frame Roll Forming Machine to continuously roll coil stock into C- or U-shaped profiles. The metal frame enhances the panel’s compressive strength and provides rigid edge support, while its standardized profile simplifies on-site handling and installation.
