Heavy slag and dross is created during thermal cutting processes such as plasma cutting, flame cutting, and oxyfuel cutting. Slag refers to the residue or waste material that is being ejected from the kerf during cutting. The thicker the material, such as heavy plate or thick parts, the more energy is required to remove the slag. If this slag can be knocked off via a lateral force, we speak of deslagging. Removing slag is an important step in ensuring quality, safety and durability for your plasma and flame cut parts.

The wheel is fitted with multiple hardened steel hammer heads. When spun at high speed, centrifugal force drives these hammers to strike the plate edge repeatedly and aggressively. It is highly effective at removing heavy, robust burrs produced on thick steel plate, with very fast material removal.

The hammer belt is mounted like a conventional abrasive belt on drive and tension wheels and runs at high speed. As the plate edge contacts the belt surface, it delivers high-frequency impact and scraping to the edge. It better accommodates variations in plate thickness and irregular edge geometry, producing a more uniform finish.

Suited for removing hard burrs, heavy burrs and sharp edges. It is typically used in combination with hammering/impact stations for optimal cleaning and edge preparation.
The 1300MHS model is equipped with a hammer wheel and a wide abrasive belt, and features a magnetic worktable. It is ideal for processing large carbon-steel plates and excels at heavy dross removal on thick sections and the removal of large burrs.

Slag, also known as dross, refers to the residual metal that fuses onto a part after being cut by thermal methods like plasma or oxy-fuel cutting. This hardened residue is challenging to remove and requires significant force to be cleared away.
Deslagging is the removal of slag from metal parts by hand or with the use of a machine (tool).
Slag can be manually removed using a hammer or knife, but this process is time-consuming, labor-intensive, and poses a risk of repetitive strain injuries for workers. The Hammerhead machine offers an efficient solution, quickly hammering off all dross with minimal effort.
